Veg.Italian Quiche

Veg.Italian Quiche

It’s been way too long since I shared a savoury treat and what better than a cheesy petit four (it is basically small bite-sized treats).

Everyone loves pizza, and Since I have been meaning to make quiche for a while now I decided to club the two. A perfect treat to go with a perfect meal. Super easy to make and its basic pizza in canopies/tarts. Won’t waste your time much explaining about it, I hope I covered almost every aspect in the instructions below. Happy Baking you’ll.

Ingredients

For Tart Shell

  • 125 gms Refined Flour (1 Cup)
  • 60 gms Unsalted Butter (1 /2 Cup)
  • Salt (To taste)
  • 2 tsp Water

For Filling

  • 30 gms Veggies (Onion and Capsicum)
  • 3 pods Garlic
  • 2 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • 2 tsp Italian Mix herbs
  • 2 tbsp OIl
  • 6 nos Olives
  • 1 tbsp Tomatoes

For White Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Refined Flour
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 100 ml Milk
  • 30 gm Cheese

Instructions

For the tarts

  • Start by making the tart dough. In a food processor, add refined flour, butter, salt and water as mentioned for a tart and blend it together.
  • Remove the mixture and knead into a soft by playable dough. Refrigerate for 30 mins in fridge, no freezer.
  • Roll The dough into a 1/2 cm thickness and cut into a circle so as to fit in the cupcake/tart mould. I made small tart version but you can make a single medium-sized tart using this recipe.
Note : You don't need to the grease the mould since the dough has a lot of butter in it.

For the white sauce

  • Add flour to the pan and saute for a minute, add butter into it and you should get a thick dough type mixture.
  • Add milk to it, stir and keep aside.

For the filling

  • In the other pan, add oil, saute garlic, chilli flakes, onion with a pinch of salt. Once the onion turns translucent, add in the capsicum and Italian herbs to it.
  • Add the sauce into the veggies, grate 1/2 cube of cheese and mix it well till cheese melts. Take it off the heat and fill in the tarts equally
  • Add some tomato ketchup and cheese from the top, some olives as well if you like.
  • Bake them in a preheated oven for 30 minutes at 150 degrees (20 mins) and 180 degrees (10 mins).
  • Add some coriander as a garnish and done. Eat hot.
